Women: Selections from The Do Good Fund is a photographic exhibition curated for RIVERWORKS Gallery by Zane Logan. Logan, photography instructor at Greenville Technical College, states; "This selection of photographs depicts singular female figures within images that range from objective documents to constructed narratives. The female subject is the primary focus. Each woman is specifically aware of the camera evidenced through a direct return of the photographer's gaze. Any male figures have been relegated to the periphery. The relationship between the photographer and subject, and the inherent power dynamic of the photographic act is complicated by the fact that the majority of the photographers are male."

The Do Good Fund, Inc. is a public charity based in Columbus, GA. Since its founding in 2012, the Fund has focused on building a museum-quality collection of photographs taken in the American South since World War II. The collection ranges from works by more than a dozen Guggenheim Fellows to images by emerging photographers working in the region.

Do Good's mission is to make its collection of over 500 images broadly accessible through regional museums, nonprofit galleries, and nontraditional venues, and to encourage complimentary, community-based programming to accompany each exhibition. www.thedogoodfund.org

Women is one of three exhibits curated from Do Good's collection currently on view in the Upstate. Looking at the South is on exhibit at Clemson University's Lee Gallery, and Adolescence in the South is on exhibit at the Spartanburg County Library Headquarters.

RIVERWORKS Gallery is operated by and for the faculty and students of the Department of Visual Arts at Greenville Technical College. The gallery is located at 300 River Street, Suite 202, along the scenic Reedy River in downtown Greenville, South Carolina.
